I have chosen my still image that I’m going to expand on using motion graphics, but I’ve still been stuck on what sort of animation I want to do. This advert has given me a clearer idea of what I could produce in After Effects. I really like style of graphics and the way it flows.

Model Animation

Today we downloaded a sample 3D model to get a feel for animating a character in Maya. It was pretty easy to do considering we just played around with the 3D model that was basically ready for animation. The key thing to animate in Maya is to construct a Rig, which acts like a skeleton for a 3D model. That is going to be our next challenge in the next maya session.

Here is a clip of  the animation I did.

Maya has many different areas of specific work such as, modeling, texturing, lighting, rigging and animating. We have had the opportunity to work in all those areas of maya to get feel a feel of what they are like. So far, I have found animating to be my favorite out of all them.

It had been a while since we had a maya session with Liam so our first task was to try and remember how to create text and make it fall to a surface using the gravity tool. This is my second attempt at doing this and I felt I managed it better this time round than doing it the first. I also added some lighting to this clip as well.

Last Friday we had the opportunity to see the Mutate Britain: One Foot In The Grove exhibition in London. It was a really great exhibition, displaying all different kinds of art from sculptures to paintings. It’s amazing what people can do with old recycled materials and engines and use them to create something unique. Click on the image below for photos.

We still haven’t  finished our drama video as there is still a lot of footage to edit. In the meantime, I thought I’d upload some footage I recorded while were filming.

This is some footage I recorded on a night out. I imported it into After Effects and was shown various effects as a way manipulating the video to create a distorted look.
