Light Effects in Maya

  • For the lighting, you need to change the tab to Rendering.
  • You then create a surface for light to shine on to.
  • Alter the patches for the surface (10 x 10)
  • Click the Light bulb tab, along the top bar.
  • Position the light bulb.
  • Go to Spot Light Shape 1 to alter light preferences (e.g. colour, decay, intensity and drop-off.)
  • Then render current frame to preview.

This is a short clip of some very basic lighting effects I did in Maya in todays session.
